hatful of grumble

McGavock Pike, December 2nd, 2008

Since 'tis the season to be charitable, we're assuming that the e's completely sold out on the day after Thanksgiving.

I assume your post title was the rejected, original title for that Smiths album?

But seriously: are you not familiar with "Grumbly Hatful," a comical dwarf (or so we assume, since in fact all we can see of him is his hat and his shoes) in the "Crucifun!" series of Christian cartoons, who's always grumbling incomprehensibly - usually as a foil for Susie Q. Sonshine, a horrifyingly cute little girl bunny, who's always trying to cheer him up? No?

Maybe I dreamed that...

Smiths reference completely intentional.

I had "Grumbly Hatful" pegged as the Grumpy of Lidsville, but maybe Sid and Marty changed their last name to "Crucifun!" (including the exclamation point), moved their HQ to Williamson County, and repurposed him.

Dan - good catch on the "paster." somehow I hadn't noticed, even though that's a permanent part of the sign.
